Whether you’re drafting this week and looking to get out to
a quick start in your fantasy football league, or you play the daily game, here
are some players primed to have big opening weeks.
QB – Andrew Luck,
Indianapolis Colts vs Detroit Lions
Luck and the Colts host a weak Detroit Lions secondary in
what has the potential to be a shootout.
Luck has a full menu of receivers, including T.Y. Hilton, Donte Moncrief
and Philip Dorsett, but also has a great running game as well. The O-line will be a problem to start, but
should round into shape in about a month.
Look for Luck to throw early and often as he’s not going to be looking
to make plays out of the pocket as he returns from a lengthy absence. Try your Luck in Week 1.
RB - Lamar Miller,
Houston Texans vs Chicago Bears
Miller has yet to give the fantasy world a reason not to
trust him as his body of work has been quite impressive thus far… that is, when
his team actually runs him. He’s got a
great matchup at home against the Bears, and should be deployed to the tune of
25 touches. It’s Miller time in Houston
in Week 1.
WR – Julio Jones,
Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Jones torched the Bucs at home last season to the tune of
12/162/1 and the Falcons lost. Tampa Bay
matches up well against Atlanta, which means 15-17 targets for Jones in Week
1. Jones also caught 8 balls for over 90
yards in a loss at Tampa as well, so it appears Tampa Bay finds itself in the
same boat as many other teams… unable to stop Jones. Keeping up with the “Jones” will be difficult
for your fantasy opponent(s) in Week 1.
